GREATER DALLAS SCOTTISH TERRIER CLUB
Code of Ethics

This code of Ethics is established to set a standard of acceptable behavioral limits for THE GREATER DALLAS SCOTTISH TERRIER CLUB members. The Code is designed to protect the interests of the club and to protect and preserve the Scottish Terrier. THE GREATER DALLAS SCOTTISH TERRIER CLUB expects adherence to the code. Blatant disregard for the standards set out in this code will not be condoned.

THE GREATER DALLAS SCOTTISH TERRIER CLUB was formed and exists to encourage and promote responsible ownership and quality breeding of pure-bred Scottish Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection. It is committed to do al in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows. Toward these ends, the following practices are condemned as unethical and, if proven, shall constitute misconduct prejudicial to the best interests of the Club or the breed as provided by Article VII of the By-Laws.

1.
The indiscriminate breeding of stock without due regard for and consideration of hereditary defects; good health and physical condition of the stock to be bred; and the quality of puppies produced by such breeding.
2.
The wholesaling of litters of puppies or selling of puppies or breeding stock to or through pet shops, catalog houses, or other similar commercial sources of distribution.
3.
The misrepresentation of or failure to disclose known hereditary defects, health, and physical condition of the stock offered to anyone else for sale or breeding purposes.
4.
The knowing violation of American Kennel Club rules regarding record keeping, registration, sale, and transfer of dogs or the rules and procedures regarding the exhibition of dogs.

By signing the Code of Ethics, I/we acknowledge that I/we understand and agree with the purposes of THE GREATER DALLAS SCOTTISH TERRIER CLUB; that I/we will do my/our best to promote the best interests of the club and the breed; and that I/we will not engage in any practice which is unethical or prejudicial to the best interests of the Club. Furthermore, I/we will conduct myself/ourselves in a manner of good sportsmanship at dog shows, and obedience and performance events, so as to reflect positively on the sport of pure-bred dogs.
